1. Introduction

Welcome to JewelOps, a mobile ERP and point-of-sale application for Indian jewellery businesses, developed and operated by The JewelOps Team ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your rights over it.

By using JewelOps, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy is to be read alongside our Terms of Service.

2. Data We Collect

When you use JewelOps, we collect the following information:

  • Account Data: Your phone number and shop name, collected at sign-up for authentication and identification.
  • Customer & Business Data: The customer names, phone numbers, billing records, gold loan (girvi) details, and ledger (khata) entries you enter into the app. You remain the sole owner of this data.
  • Device & Usage Data: Crash logs, device model, OS version, and anonymised usage statistics are collected automatically via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to help us improve the app.
  • Payment Data: When you purchase a subscription, your payment is securely processed by Google Play Billing. We do not collect, process, or store your credit card, UPI, or bank details. We only store your subscription tier and purchase token.
  • Notification Data: If you grant notification permission, we send you backup reminders and subscription expiry alerts. We do not use this for marketing without your separate consent.
  • Camera Access: Your camera is accessed strictly for scanning ornament barcodes and HUID codes. No photos or videos are captured or stored by JewelOps.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data solely to:

  • Provide core POS functionality — billing, khata, gold loans, Bookings, and savings schemes.
  • Sync your business data securely across your devices via Supabase.
  • Process your subscription payments via Google Play Billing and manage your license.
  • Send in-app and push notifications for backup reminders and license expiry alerts.
  • Analyse crash reports and usage patterns to fix bugs and improve performance.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or customer data to any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

JewelOps integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

  • Google Play Services — Privacy Policy

5. Data Security

We take data security seriously:

  • Local Encryption: All data stored on your device is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption (SQLCipher), locked to your device's secure hardware keystore.
  • Cloud Security: Data in transit uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Cloud data is protected by Supabase Row Level Security (RLS), ensuring no user can access another's data.
  • App Lock: Flagship users can set a PIN or biometric lock to prevent unauthorised access to the app on shared devices.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data:

  • Send a deletion request to jewelops.app@gmail.com with your registered phone number.
  • All your data — billing records, customer data, backups, and account information — will be permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers within 30 days of the request.
  • Data already exported by you (e.g., CSV files, PDF invoices saved to your device) is outside our control after export.

Account deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your data after deletion. We recommend exporting a CSV backup before requesting deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

JewelOps is a business tool intended exclusively for adults operating jewellery businesses. The application is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

8. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023 & IT Act 2000)

As a user in India, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Erase your personal data (see Section 6 above).
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time (note: this may limit app functionality).
  • Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and notify active users via in-app notification. Continued use of JewelOps after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
